A Survey on Using Mobile Technology to Enhance English Language Learning in Indonesian Higher Education

Abstract


The rapid growth of technology has brought a number of benefits to human’s life, especially in education. One of the benefits is related to the flexibility and interactivity of language learning. The use of mobile technology is nowadays popular among Indonesian students, moreover in higher education context. This paper reports the result of a survey about the potentials of mobile learning in enhancing students’ English language. 215 students of IKIP Siliwangi majoring in English education were involved in this study. They filled out an online questionnaire about the potentials of mobile technology in language learning. Then, students’ attitudes towards mobile learning were also investigated. The result of the study revealed that students show positive attitudes towards mobile learning and it can be used to enhance students’ English proficiencies
