Abstract

Today’s learners live in a world dominated by technology. Technology changes is sometimes difficult to follow and today’s innovation sometimes turn out to be tomorrow’s memories. In TEFL class, novice teachers try to find creative ways to learn how to teach English as a foreign language by using technology. Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is language learning that is assisted or enhanced through the use of a handheld mobile device such as mobile phones. Using MALL is not a gimmick but as a resources that can be used to support the teaching of all aspects of language. With MALL, novice teachers are able to access language learning materials and to communicate with their students, teachers, and peers at anytime and anywhere. This study aims to find out how different technology, especially MALL, helps to teach English as a foreign language to non-native speakers as well as benefits and limitations of technology for language learning and teaching.
