Abstract

e-Learning has gained accelerated attention in ELT world in the past decade of this era of information technology. Whether we like it or not, we (ELT teachers) will, sooner or later, be involved in this model of teaching and learning. However, developing and implementing courses using this model of instruction requires careful thinking, planning and preparation for optimal learning gains. The aim of this workshop is to share practical principles and steps in the course design, development and application of the on-going e-General English course offered at a private university in Karawaci, Tangerang. The course is especially designed for diploma degree nurses who are still actively working in their respective hospitals while at the same time, wish to take the challenge to continue their studies on-line to get their bachelor degree. Challenges and Opportunities of each phase in the process will also be highlighted to discuss rooms for improvement for future implementation of a similar language program.
