Abstract

This study was aimed to investigate educator’s lived experience in using Padlet as collaborative learning tools in ELT classroom. The study was conducted by means of Phenomenological Study of Lived Experience (van Manen, 1990). The respondent of the study was an English lecturer who has made use of Padlet more than four semesters. The findings revealed the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) of Padlet as collaborative learning tool in ELT classroom. Padlet was seen as a tool that was freely accessible, had various features. Additionally, it was discovered that Padlet contains a flaw in the form of a restricted amount of free access, which forces teachers to keep the information separately or on different storage. Following that, Padlet was seen as a potential tool to be used as media for class refreshment, teacher-student collaboration, and a virtual wall. Last but not least, the instructor must supervise the usage of Padlet in the classroom in order to set the tone and keep an eye on the learning process. This is due to the possibility that students could become bored and dissatisfied with Padlet and classroom activities if it is used improperly.
